We are a Beirut-based law firm and we cater to our clients’ legal needs within the Middle East region through our network of collaborating law firms, and in particular, in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, where we have a privileged relationship with The Law Office Of Bander Alnogaithan. We also have a larger international reach through a number of select correspondent law firms in different jurisdictions.
Our client base includes private clients, as well as privately and publicly held domestic and multinational corporations. For over 50 years, we have strived to build strong and longstanding client relationships, structured our practices, developed our skills, and managed our resources with the intention of catering to each of our clients’ needs within our areas of expertise.

Our History
Our firm was founded in 1970 by Mr. Edmond Smayra, after he had established himself as an adviser to a number of highly respected Lebanese private clients, corporations, banks and financial institutions. The aspiration was to provide clients with high-quality legal services, and to build strong and longstanding client relationships founded on trust. This intent remains at the core of our firm’s founding principles.
In the 1990s, our firm represented a number of the companies that were involved in Lebanon’s reconstruction and economic recovery on a number of high-profile and complex disputes and transactions. As Lebanon’s economy grew, significant opportunities arose, primarily in the banking, real estate, construction and commercial sectors. Our firm was strategically positioned to provide the technical and inventive legal services required by the times. In this context, our firm developed a diverse team of highly talented attorneys capable of accompanying our local clients in their expansion, locally and internationally.
Naturally, our firm’s reach grew across the Middle East region. We also represented our clients in their ventures in Africa, Europe and the Americas. Through globalization, borders are no longer a restriction; yet, local specificity, and particularly in the legal sphere, requires specialized expertise, knowledge and understanding. Our culture and work ethics have therefore allowed us to continually grow and adapt; as well as to provide our clients with the highest level of legal services.
Today, our firm is even more committed to its founding principles and represents a wide range of clients from a diverse number of industries in a wide scope of matters within its practice areas.
